Software Genie is a start-up software company focused on the hospitality industry and developers of the property management system Guestroom Genie.
At Software Genie, I collaborated with the development and management teams creating strategies for application deployment as well as being responsible for setting up the company infrastructure in the cloud.
I have shown the company the advantages of containerization and built images for the Guestroom Genie web application, database migration, logical backups and cron jobs. This successful strategy simplified configuration management and provided a consistent environment for development, testing and production.
I set up the production environment in Amazon EKS. I have written Terraform scripts for provisioning resources in AWS such as RDS instances, S3 buckets and application load balancers. Prior to running Kubernetes in production, I authored Chef recipes for AWS OpsWorks Stacks which has been phased out.
I assisted the developers with database migrations and technical documentation.
I have researched and implemented open source solutions to streamline processes, to mention a few: Redmine - Project management and issue tracker, Klaros - Test management, EspoCRM – Accounts, Customer Portal, Marketing. I also set up a simple mail server with Mailu.
